IconMorseit Android application V3.0

Morseit is a caller id ringtone personalization application for Android devices. It announces the caller in Morse Code on in-coming calls.

Morseit needs access to your contacts list / address book to fetch the name of your caller and not for any other purpose.

Features of Morseit Caller ID and how to use them

Morseit works in the background and on incoming calls, fetches the contact name from the address book and plays it in Morse code at desired speed and audio frequencies. Musical (random) ringtones is possible too. If there is no contact for the incoming number, the number itself is played in Morse code. Custom ringtones, alarms and notifications can be created too for use with other applications like alarm, SMS and whatsapp. Custom ringtones created can be sent via applications like whatsapp, emails.

Morseit works in two modes 1. M* in which Morseit itself plays the Morse ring tone on incoming call and 2. (Recommended) A* mode in which Morseit just creates call alert ring tones for Android to play it just like any other call.

Two Ring Tones

This feature is currently available in A* mode only. Morseit provides two ringtones Morseit1 and Morseit2. They can be used as separate ringtones, for example, in a dual sim phones - one for each sim. By default Morseit produces one ring tone. To enable Morseit2, click the chekbox next to "Morseit2" on the screen.

Setting tone and speed

For each of the ringtones, please enter the audio tone frequency. Values can be between 500 and 2500 Hz. By entering different values in low pitch and high pitch, for example, 800 for low pitch and 1200 for high pitch, musical (random) tones are generated. If you desire single tone, enter the same value in both fields.

Speed of the Morse code can be set by entering words per minute value in the words per minute fields. Values can be between 5 and 45.

After the values are entered, press the "Test" buttons corresponding to Morseit1 or Morseit2 to ascertain that the play is acceptable.

Telling Morseit where to store the ringtones

When Morseit is started for the first time, it shows a folder name by default. If you desire, you can leave it unaltered. If your phone is rooted, you can mention "/system./media/audio/ringtones ". This will ensure that Morseit ringtones will work correctly even when SD cards are unmounted (example: When phone is connected to PC). If the phone is not rooted, Morseit has to use a folder in SD card (internal or external).

Putting it to work

After the above settings are done, click the "Start" button to start Morseit. At this time, Morseit will start running in the background and wait for incoming call. After Morseit start, a pop up will be displayed. From there, click "Ringtone Selector" and set Morseit1 and/or Morseit2 as ring tone if you are using A* mode. If you have dual sim phone, Morseit1 and 2 can be used one for each sim. If you are using M* mode, just one ringtone is available with settings of Morseit 1. This will be played for incoming calls on all sims. In this case, choose ringtones as per your wish (either None for silent or any other ringtone - Morseit will play over chosen ringtone). If you want Morseit to start automatically when phone restarts, check the box nex to "Start Morseit on Reboot".

Note : After starting Morseit, ringtone has to be manually set. Otherwise Android will play the previous ringtone only. Also, when you stop Morseit, you have to set some other ringtone or else Android will repeatedly play the name of the last caller.

Stopping Morseit

If you are tired of Morseit, which is unlikely, disable it by pressing the red "STOP" button. Again, as mentioned earlier, some other ring tone has to be set manually.

Creating Custom Ringtones

Morseit can be used to create Morse code sequence for a word/sentence of your choice. Enter desired  word in the "Custom Tone" (Maximum 20 letters). As in Morseit1 and 2, set the audio frequencies and speed. Test the settings with "Listen" button, save it as a ringtone wav file in a folder of your choice or share/send the ringtone via bluetooth, whatsapp or email. When "Save" is clicked, Morseit allows you to save the generated Morse sequence as ringtone, alarm, music or notification or a combination of the above so that they will show up when you try to use them through other applications. It is enough to enter the name at the end and ".wav" will be added by Morseit.

Other Features

System Ringtone Manager can be started by clicking the "Ringtone Manager" button. To clear out Morseit1 and Morseit2 ringtones if you dont want to see them in ringtone managers when you are not using  Morseit software, click the "Delete Morseit Files" button.

Other Information

Version (2) Updates: Based on feed back from some, especially Samsung and Motorola users, the automatic setting of ringtone was not working on some phones. So in this version that feature has been turned off until I find how to make it work in all phones. Ringtones have to be managed manually until then.

Version (3) updates:

In A* mode, Morseit works by creating wav files on the fly when an incoming call arrives. Android call alert tone manager picks up the created file and plays. Many users reported problems with this feature with recent android upgrades. This release of Morseit has some major fixes to correct the problems.

In addition, In version 3, M* mode has been introduced - Morseit itself plays the ringing on incoming calls, in addition to ringtone manager.

Last but not the least

Please use this software at your own discretion. Test it out thoroughly if it works well in your phone so that you will not miss important calls. Morseit has been tested successfully on several phones.

If you have any feedback positive or negative, or suggestions for improvement or like to have some new feature added, please drop a line at smtncrc at gmail dah com. If you find this app useful, share it with your friends by clicking the "Share Morseit" link at the bottom.

Morseit hopefully helps you hear Morse music few times in the day to keep it fresh in your memory. Several users have reported improvement in their Morse skillls after they started using Morseit.

Privacy Policy

Morseit needs access to your phone contacts to fetch the name to play in Morse code. This information is not transmitted outside the phone. Morseit does not require an internet connection for functioning.

Similarly, Morseit needs access to your phones files storage area to write ring tones and other information. Again, this data is not collected or transmitted.

Happy Morsing!.....
